Echoes Our Mission is Not Cancelled! Published 1/22/2021

A good friend and partner in mission, Father Michael Montoya, MJ, recently recorded a beautiful reflection about the state of our faith mission during the pandemic. Originally from the Philippines, Father Michael has been on mission for twenty-five years. His last assignment was serving as pastor to the poorest parish in the poorest diocese in the United States, accompanying Hispanic immigrants on their faith journey on the border between Texas and Mexico. He encouraged his parishioners to have hope and walk in faith. They trusted in God and decided to build their own house of worship. Many used their food stamps to buy taco makings, which they sold to help fund the building. They lived their mission, knowing if they worked for the good of all, God would reward them.

Five former St Patrick s priests accused of abuse

Chloe Shelford Jan 9, 2021 Five priests who served at St. Patrick’s Church in Wareham have been accused of sexual abuse, according to a list of 75 accused clergy published on Jan. 7 by the diocese of Fall River. It is unclear when or for how long these priests worked in Wareham, and the diocese of Fall River declined Wareham Week’s request for that information. Many served at more than eight churches over their careers.  St. Patrick’s declined to comment for this story. Several of the priests are facing criminal charges: Mark Hession has been charged with two counts of rape, one count of indecent assault and battery on a child less than 14, and one count of intimidation of a witness.
