The source of the outbreak is unknown but it comes through bacteria in water. Inside this means no showering for inmates. It means no inmate transfers to or from other prisons. It means no visitors possibly through the weekend and means more Correctional Officers on duty to escort inmates seeking relief. What is the average wait for a restroom at this point . They have just had one confirmed case, they are not calling this an outbreak yet but there are 30 prisoners showing symptoms. This is very serious like a severe form of pneumonia. So they are taking this very seriously. From chopper 5, you can see the calm but chaotic scene on the san quentin prison yard. Hundreds of inmates are lined up to get water. Also about 200 portapotties have been brought in for 3700 prisoners. Officials say they have shut off the water to the prison as they deal with the possible outbreak of legionnaires disease. It all started with one sick inmate yesterday. One of the patient tested positive for legionnaires disease. There were a number of other patients with symptoms also.
