The new EU law has the potential to significantly reduce e-waste and help consumers who are tired of having to rummage through junk drawers full of tangled chargers to find a compatible one, or buy a new one.
EU's common charger policy will come into effect in the fall of 2024, which simply means phones or any other electronic devices launching after the timeline should include USB-C support.
The new EU rule also applies to Apple iPhones, which currently come with a lightning port. Reports already suggest that Apple is working on iPhones with USB-C port in them.
