The public. And they will air in the near future on booktv on cspan2. Host joining us onset is radio talkshow host and author of seven books Dennis Prager. His most recent book is called the 10 commandments still the best moral code. Dennis prager, what is on your mind . Guest very good opening question and i will answer you completely honestly, what is on my mind . It is not totally germane but quite germane to the 10 commandments, what i believe is the undoing of the American Revolution and the decline of my beloved country, the greatest experiment in liberty and decency in Human History. I do believe that a big part of the reason is the radical secularization of our society. Host where did that come from . How did it come about . It came about, its origins emanate from europe. After world war i and even somewhat before but especially after world war i europe decided that everything it believed in was nonsense because of the massacres of world war i, the atrocious loss of life for no

Occupations or ad hoc invasions that dont seem to be part of any kind of broader strategy. I think because we as a country are not willing to embrace the idea of imperialism or that we are going to occupy these countries and tell them what to do, and that all fine. Im not in favor of imperialism or of going back to the british control of the world, but im saying what were doing also doesnt make much sense because we go into these countries, we start a war, we invade, and then we dont really follow up with much of a political governance piece of that. Most recently you saw that in libya and syria, where we have had air campaigns but and we helped overthrow gadhafi but then we didnt do anything to resolve the fundamental political structure, and in syria its so screwed up now its hard to tell what policy we have. And in iraq, we invaded and then allowed the shia to dominate the government. So, im not suggesting that we open a Colonial Office like the british did where they had they actua

Left. The reason i say it it was beautifully scary is because while i absolutely loved walking out of prison, i realize that we were in a lot of trouble in this country when it comes to men and women coming home because we are not preparing them properly for reintroduction into the world. E so i had to learn a lot of stuff relatively quickly. Fortunately im a relatively smart person but the scary partm is that i know a lot of the men and women incarcerated have sc thirdgrade reading and math skills so that is a scary thing when he think about preparing people for life after prison. Host i want to correct one thing you said. You said you are relatively smart person, you are brilliant. Youre brilliant. Not just intellectually, but also spiritually to eve all the way that you have. One concern that some people reformers had that we spent a lot of time thinking about nonviolent drug crimes and a lot of people are on board with treating those folks differently, but a lot of these ideas abou

Folks, 12 years isnt enough. Look, we have come a lot way, but a lot more has to be done. Let me conclude by saying it comes down to one thing. Everybody deserves a fair shot. White, hispanic, black, asian are capable of doing extraordinary things if you give them a shot. Just give them the tools. The base foundation, equal access to the same education, a safe neighborhood, a job, transportation get to a job, health care. We just need a chance. You all know it. We just level the Playing Field a little bit. But folks, the president has sacrificed and struggled, it should not fall to those who are suffering and struggling. You quoted something for my book i have not heard in a long time, we all, we all, we offer our own safetys sake, well be sacrifice a little bit, all of us. We used to be one america, i really mean it, where we thought about things in terms of everybody has responsibility, which everybody talks about this responsibility in a community. But everybody has obligations. Eve
