We visited meadowcroft, the National Historic landmark to learn the story from james adovasio, who has been leading Archaeology Research there for 50 years. We are currently 46 kilometers southwest of pittsburgh, pennsylvania in Washington County on the north bank of cross creek, which is a small tributary of the ohio river. In 1972, there was a vacancy in the Anthropology Department at the university of pittsburgh. I joined the faculty there.
