TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) As vaccine supply increases and eligibility expands, Tulare County health officials say they need more medically-trained volunteers to help vaccinate the public.

TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) More vaccines are making their way into the arms of the most vulnerable.
In the South Valley, Tulare County Public Health Department officials say along with an increase in vaccine allocations, they ll also be expanding vaccination sites. We ve been identified to have four Optumserve testing sites, some will also be vaccination sites, says Carrie Monteiro with the department.
Monteiro says the sites will be Dinuba, Woodlake, Earlimart, and Porterville, ultimately helping administer 6,000 doses a week.
They re also be receiving additional vaccines from an ongoing pharmacy program with the federal government.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) Around 20,000 Tulare County residents have received their first doses of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, and local health officials say the time for their second shot is now, or is coming up soon. So we must be diligent to remember this is a two-dose series, Tulare County HHSA s Carrie Monteiro said. And here in Tulare County, to have the maximum efficacy of 90% that these vaccines have seen in clinical trials, we re going to follow through on that second dose.
At a board of supervisors meeting on Tuesday, Tulare County s top health official made it clear that there is still not enough vaccine supply to guarantee second doses and administer first doses at the same time.

The state s online platform, MyTurn, which notifies you when it s your turn to get vaccinated and schedules vaccination appointments, is now available in Fresno County. Appointments will become available on MyTurn for the following week at the Fresno Fairgrounds.
Tulare County starts vaccinating more healthcare workers including dentists, optometrists for COVID-19
Healthcare workers now eligible to receive a vaccine include optometrists, workers at primary care and specialty clinics, pharmacies, mortuaries, and dental clinics.

TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) In an effort to speed up what has been a slow rollout of the vaccine, the state of California has given individual counties the green light to expand vaccinations to all workers in phase 1A.
It means people working in a variety of different healthcare fields can now sign up for their first dose of the shot.
