Expressing concern over the pendency of cases in courts, Union Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju informed Rajya Sabha on Thursday, informed that the 1023 Fast Track Special Courts (FTSCs) are being set up for providing speedy justice to victims of heinous crimes.
The letter raised concerns about the pendency of cases that are to be tried before Fast Track Courts and Fast Track Special Courts, as well as the under-utilisation of funds set aside for setting up more such courts.
New Delhi: Union Minister for Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju informed the Rajya Sabha that 12 Fast Track Special Courts (FTSCs) have been set up in Andhra Pradesh to clear the cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
When the Union government had announced the setting up of these courts, legal and child rights experts had warned of their limited impact unless more judges were appointed and public prosecutors trained to deal with POCSO cases.
