Authorities have arrested a man in connection to disturbing video from a subway platform in the Bronx that appears to show the man abusing two children as they sit and wait for a train.
The New York City Police Department says Joshua Gilead was arrested this week on charges of aggravated family offense and acting in a manner injurious to a child. Law enforcement sources say he had been taken in for a separate incident earlier this week when officers recognized him.
Video of the incident was captured by subway riders from the other side of the tracks on Jan. 22 around 9 p.m. at the Fordham Road/Jerome Avenue stop. The five-minute clip, which was posted online, shows a man sitting in between the kids, screaming at them and even landing two closed-fist punched to the neck and face of one child.
It takes courage. A waitress in Florida is being called a hero for recognizing the plight of a little boy, and getting creative in order to get him help.
The investigation is continuing, and police say Gilead was arrested just after 2 a.m. Saturday for his alleged role in a domestic dispute.
Authorities say Gilead, who has joint custody, took his two children from his wife s Bronx apartment. The two reportedly have a tumultuous relationship.
She went to the 48th Precinct to file a harassment complaint, and the New York City Administration for Children s Services sent case workers to Gilead s East Harlem apartment, where they observed injuries on his two children, including hand marks and bruises on his back and a bruise on his arm.
The trio proceeded to kick the woman repeatedly; one bit her on the forehead, breaking the skin and leaving her with a bite mark on her face that required.
