Father Stan Swamy was likened to tribal icon Birsa Munda and Jesus Christ at a memorial service on Thursday for his untiring fight for the cause of the oppressed and eventual victimisation and death.
Speaking at the service, Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren referred to the “martyrdom” of Birsa Munda and Fr Stan.

“Jharkhand has never been behind in martyrdom; people have seen the likes of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and Fr Stan Swamy,” Soren said.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Residents gathered together Saturday night at the “Light Up Staten Island” event in Midland Beach to honor loved ones lost during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The second annual event, which kicked off at 6:30 p.m., honored those who lost their lives to the coronavirus, as well as those who have been working on the frontlines.
Brooklyn residents, advocates denounce recent rash of violent incidents in the borough

Community members in a Brooklyn neighborhood gathered Sunday to denounce what they say has been a string of violence happening in the borough. I m feeling terrible. I m feeling angry. I m feeling mad. I need answers, me and my family need answers man, Jamel Moore said. He was a man of love. That s all he did was love, Moore said.
He and community advocates came together Sunday to denounce not only that incident, but a number of other violent incidents that happened recently across the borough.
