A 5-year-old girl was grazed in the head by a bullet fired as she was playing on a sidewalk in Brooklyn, possibly with her mother, Monday evening, police said
The child was near the corner of New Lots Avenue and Montauk Avenue in East New York around 6 p.m. when shots rang out. She was not the intended target of the shooting, according to officials.

A couple with their 1-year-old baby were attacked by a knife-wielding man as they were leaving a Lower Manhattan park Wednesday evening, police said.
The man and woman, both in their 20s, were leaving Battery Park just before 6 p.m. with their child when they were approached by the man, who was acting erratically, according to police.
