Since 2020, the Guinness World Record title for the oldest active fitness trainer in the world has been held by an American, Tim Minnick, an 80-year-old whose main clientele includes those aged 60 years old and up. While not setting out to break any world records just yet, Wicklow man Jim Brennan recently qualified as a fitness instructor at the age of 65 and hopes to encourage older people to get more active at an age where the tendency is to become increasingly sedentary.
