The Tolles Parsons Center is making plans to welcome back seniors

Wicked Local The talk in town for many weeks has been about when the public schools will reopen for in-person classes. But families and teachers are not the only ones eager for answers.  Wellesley s seniors are looking for answers, too. Like many building around town, the Tolles Parsons senior center has been closed throughout the pandemic, leaving many who counted on it to connect them with friends and activities feeling isolated. In the latest newsletter, the Council on Aging team announced that a reopening plan is in the works. Similar to the schools, reopening is a strategic and slow re-entry and transition to in-person activities at the Tolles Parsons Center, according to the announcement. The plan s success is contingent on conditions related to COVID-19 and approval by the Health Department.

Voters will be deciding non-binding item on Indigenous People s Day

Wicked Local For years, the celebration of Columbus Day went on without protest in Wellesley, which has a substantial population of people of Italian-American descent. But more recently, there has been a hard-fought battle to replace it with Indigenous Peoples Day. The March 2 ballot contains a referendum on the issue. The referendum results are to inform the Select Board, said Town Clerk K.C. Kato. However, the information is not binding. The campaign for ballot question 1 has been organized by the Committee for Indigenous Peoples Day Wellesley, which is separate from the World of Wellesley. IPD Wellesley describes itself  as a grassroots organization formed by a group of Wellesley residents who are in favor of honoring Indigenous Peoples Day. It says it  has no affiliations with or support from organizations outside Wellesley, but does have  endorsements from several local organizations, such as  Sustainable Wellesley and Young Ethnic Scholars,
