On Saturday, 10 April, leaders of the alliance and the family of the then SACP secretary general, Hani, descended to the Thomas Nkobi Memorial Park in Boksburg for the annual wreath laying and commemoration ceremony.

The ANC Parliamentary Caucus has issued a statement in defence of its deployment of Xiaomei Havard to replace the late Jackson Mthembu in Parliament, after outrage that Havard was not born and raised in SA.
The ANC said it noted with “grave concern” the social media storm generated by Xiaomei Havard’s deployment. Following the death of five ANC members in the National Assembly, Havard was sworn in, with four other members, as a new member of the National Assembly on the 27th January 2021.
