Hereâs what to know as the food bank opens:Â
How it began
The journey to the bank started back in 2007 when the John Coughlin Resource Center was founded by the United Way St. Croix Valley. When that 1,500 center opened, it provided 65,000 pounds of food in its first year, Board Vice President Jim Dahl said.Â
Now the goal is to provide 6 million pounds of food.Â
âWe needed to keep growing,â Dahl said.Â
A new partnershipÂ
St. Croix Valley Food Bank has also recently partnered with Second Harvest Heartland to increase the amount of meals delivered.Â
