not prepared when donald trump won. how they didn t have a health care bill my understanding is they now have one. thankfully the freedom caucus, the tuesday group, the saturday drinking group, the moderate caucus, they all came together and it looks like we have a deal. the president will sign it and then they will send it to the senate. the fact that they weren t prepared really annoys me. it s embarrassing. there is no way to spin this. democrats are levying a lot of unfair criticism against republicans. that is the way the game is played but this one is frankly a fair criticism. eight years later and the republicans are still messing around with the provisions and trying to figure it out. it looks juvenile. i am sorry. it looks like total mickey mouse club stuff. paul ryan i like him and all these people personally but you are it s supposed to be this big
this is something we ve been talking to them all along. we had a good meeting yesterday. ways and means and finance and the white house will work regularly to make sure we get a bill together that s unified. we ve been briefed on what they re going to do and it s along the same linings we want to do. we see this as progress being made showing we re moving and getting on the same page. progress being made. say that again. yeah, right, progress, wow. [laughter] that was very interesting. so we see this as a good thing. on healthcare, does the mcarthur amendment get you to 216? tom mcarthur, one of the leaders of the tuesday group has a lot of experience in insurance. knows insurance markets inside and out. worked in high-risk pool settings so we think the mcarthur amendment is a great way to lower premiums, give states more flexibility while protecting people with pre-existing conditions. those are the three things we
back to tonight s other big news coming from right over my shoulder, capitol hill, and it is health care. ment house freedom caucus a major opponent . major gop repeal bill officially backing a new version of the bill. no, this does not mean republicans have the 216 votes needed to pass the bill, but it does mean they are inching closer. and even though the house freedom caucus is now back in the revised bill or most of them, what about the house republican moderates? the tuesday group, nbc news now reporting the tuesday group now they re not happy. they don t like the new version because the macarthur amendment which is now in it gives states the opportunity to opt out of coverage for essential health benefits and also lets the states charge americans with preexisting conditions, higher prices than those without. that means if you are sick, insurance companies have the right to raise your premium high, maybe even too high, for you to get health care coverage. speaker paul ryan touti
for a 17-year low what is the need for a wall but the president insists a wall is necessary for a number of different reasons, cross border drug trafficking and it will get built at some point. shannon: one of many things they re dealing with in washington healthcare and tax reform what s happening? healthcare not much is expected to happen this week. the tuesday group, the house freedom caucus was working on language along with the senate budget committee that would pass muster in the senate on an amendment that would make changes that could attract support from moderates and conservatives. i m told it s very unlikely that it will happen this week. i m also told the house appropriations committee is beginning to come together over this. it is likely it will go out to cbo for scoring next week. we could see a vote next week on that. tax reform the president will be unveiling some principles tomorrow. this won t be anything that looks like legislation and planning a big reduction in
