Tired of bad weather disrupting your TV signal? Tune in to this.
Bill Ellzey
Years ago, television reception hereabouts depended on the size, orientation and height of the antenna at your house. Fancy rigs were tall, had lots of parallel aluminum elements and could be pointed using a motor controlled from the ground.
A good rig could bring in stations broadcasting from Baton Rouge as well as New Orleans. A measure of reception was possible using rabbit ears inside the house.
After losing a pole-mounted antenna to a hurricane or two, I managed reasonable New Orleans reception using an outdoor antenna positioned inside my attic.
Terrebonne teachers invited to free anti-litter workshop
Teachers and others who work with children are invited to a free workshop that aims to encourage young people to reduce waster and litter.
Rocksey’s Environmental Education program, sponsored by Keep Louisiana Beautiful, is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 1 at Terrebonne s Main Library, 151 Library Drive in Houma. Space is limited to the first 25 teachers who register at bit.ly/klbteacherworkshop or keeplouisianabeautiful.org.
Billie Babin, Keep Terrebonne Beautiful’s executive director, will provide insight to litter-related issues in the parish and ways schools can be a part of the solution.
