Are two body camera videos from the officers at the scene. Mayor tom barrett said last week he was shown one still from body camera video and in it, he saw a gun in smiths hand. Schimel says he would not have shared that information publicly but adds he understands why barrett did it because he was trying to calm down the situation. We asked schimel why the doj wont release that still image the mayor was able to see. The way the gun is positioned, the position of mr. Smith when the officer made his decision to discharge his weapon, all of those things are part of that releasing more than what they mayor has stated, i believe, could compromise the integrity of the investigation.
