Prelims | Finals Knoxville, Tenn. – Florida State divers opened competition at the 2023 NCAA Zone B Diving Championships at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center on Sunday. Tazman Abramowicz, David Vargas, and Darwin Nolasco competed in the final of the men’s 1-meter competition on Sunday. Abramowicz led the Noles out of prelims in 11th place at 335.45 after a steady round, scoring all of his six dives at 5.0 or higher. With scores carrying over to finals, Abramowicz ended up taking 14th place with a total of 657.50. Nolasco (312.70) and Vargas (312.60) advanced to finals in 17th and 18th, taking the last two spots. Vargas maneuvered up to 12th place after his fourth-round dive. After slipping four spots following the fifth round, Vargas switched his last round dive from prelims from a front 3 ½ somersault tuck, to a pike. Tallahassee, Fla. – Members of the Florida State diving team will look to qualify for the NCAA Championships at the 2023 NCAA Zone B Championships from March 5-8 at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tenn. “This is our one shot to make NCAAs,” FSU head diving coach John Proctor said. “We’re looking really good and we’re ready to go.” Darwin Nolasco, Tazman Abramowicz, Jesco Helling, and David Vargas will open the competition on Sunday at 2 p.m., with prelims of men’s 1-meter. The top 18 divers from prelims will advance to finals, with scores carrying over. The top seven divers will advance to nationals, which will be held March 22-25 in Minneapolis, Minn. The SEC Network plus will stream all sessions, starting with prelims of women’s 1-meter on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Samantha Vear, Isabel Gregersen, Jessica Buntman, and Vivian Johnson will represent the Noles in the women’s events. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No.18/NR Florida State swimming and diving teams will compete at the Georgia Last Chance Invite on this weekend at the Gabrielsen Natatorium at the University of Georgia.
The Seminoles will look for one final push to qualify for the NCAA Championships in March.
“We’re excited to race and see if we can get a couple more to nationals,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “They have looked great all week and we’re ready to go.”
Prelims will start at 10 a.m., on Saturday and Sunday, with finals following at 5 p.m., on Saturday. Finals will begin at 4 p.m., on Sunday.

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Florida State men’s swimmer Arijus Pavlidi set the school record in the 200 back on the final day of the 2023 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships and the Greensboro Aquatic Center on Saturday. “It was a great last day for us,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “It was a big fight and fantastic effort all the way until the end. I’m really happy for AJ and his new school record. What a swim. We also had some good relays to finish strong.” Pavlidi qualified for the consolation heat of the race in 11th place with a time of 1:42.32, which was just off his career-best (1:42.23). At night, Pavlidi controlled the heat, touching with a time of 1:40.37 for the win. Pavlidi took down the oldest swimming record on the books which was set by Andy Hodgson back in 2009 at 1:41.11. His swim was also under the time that was invited to the NCAA Championships in 2022.
