OXFORD It was a fitting finish for the Hewitt-Trussville softball team on Friday night. The No. 1-ranked Huskies capped off a stellar 2021 season with an action-packed final two innings against Fairhope in the state championship game. Photo by Ron Burkett “I’ve never felt anything like this,” said Hewitt-Trussville senior Jenn Lord, who was named the state tournament MVP after her two-hit, four-RBI outing in the winner-take-all championship game. “I couldn’t have asked for a better senior season and couldn’t have asked for a better group of girls to do this with.”

No 1 Hewitt puts 14 hits on Bob Jones to cap 3-0 day in Oxford

Photo by Vickie Unlap Hewitt polished off Thursday with a come-from-behind win over the Patriots, as the Area 6 champions posted 14 hits and stranded nine Bob Jones runners on base. The Huskies (48-2-1) scored at least one run in five of their six plate appearances.

Red-hot Huskies draw Baker in state tournament play

By Erik Harris, sports editor TRUSSVILLE There’s a state softball championship up for grabs this week in Oxford, and top-ranked Hewitt-Trussville is among the eight-team field vying for the Class 7A blue map. Photo by Vickie Unlap As the regional champions, Hewitt-Trussville will challenge South Regional No. 2 qualifier Baker next Thursday in the first round of games. First pitch is scheduled for 9 a.m. from Choccolocco Park in Oxford.
