Discontentment was widespread among aspirants cutting across party lines who failed to get a ticket for this elections.
In the Vellore region, cadre of both the Dravidian majors staged protests across Vaniyambadi, Ambur, KV Kuppam and Ranipet for their leaders being overlooked.

TIRUCHY: Even as the peaking fuel costs are testing the tempers of the public, especially those in the transportation industry, there is a tribe of transporters that never feels the pinch.
Cycle rickshaw riders at Gandhi Market in Tiruchy are neither worried about the fuel prices nor do they care about the buzzing elections.
Many of the riders here are in their 60s and do not possess voter ID cards. All they look for is to find rides and make a few bucks.
“Since our rickshaws are old-fashioned, they don’t attract many customers. Mostly, we are dependent on a few vendors who want to transport their goods from one end of the market to the other.” says Joseph, a rider in his 50s.
DMK Chief M K Stalin s actor-turned-politician son Udayanidhi Stalin found place in a list of 173 candidates announced by DMK on Friday today for the upcoming Assembly election in Tamil Nadu, which is scheduled on April 6. Udayanidhi Stalin will make his electoral debut in this election. He will be contesting from Chepauk-Triplicane seat, which is a DMK bastion. Stalin will contest again from Kolathur. He will file the nomination on March 15 and embark on the next leg of the campaign. I Periasamy and his son I P Senthil Kumar is another father-son duo in the DMK s list of candidates. The ruling AIADMK s rival DMK joined hands with the Congress, the Left, MDMK, VCK and other smaller outfits for the upcoming polls.
