What s Vegan at Taco Bell? Secret Menu Swaps That Are Plant-Based

Taco Bell is a not-so-secret haven for plant-based or vegan eaters since it has a lineup of meatless choices unrivaled among other fast-food restaurants, and many ways to customize orders to fit a variety of dietary needs. It may come as a surprise that this chain offers one of the most accessible vegan menus, but you need some guidance to know what to order because some of the swaps are not on the menu. First, anyone who eats plant-based can tell you, if you re with a group of friends and they re wondering where to steer the car for a drive-through snack, always insist on heading to Taco Bell. There are so many options that the biggest problem is deciding what to order first: From burritos to dessert, Taco Bell has something for everyone, at any meal, and most importantly, any time of the day.

Potatoes Are Back at Taco Bell and Beyond Meat is Coming

Taco Bell heard its devoted fans outcries loud and clear after the fast-food chain removed potatoes from its menu, and has since decided to remedy the choice by bringing them back. Taco Bell chose to ax potatoes from its offerings on August 13th of last year to streamline the menu after the restaurants moved to drive-thru only in light of COVID-19. The cuts, unfortunately, ended up targeting vegan and vegetarians eaters more than anyone else. Taco Bell listened to its diehard followers devastation and now plans to double-down on plant-based choices by adding back potatoes and eventually introducing Beyond Meat as another meatless option.

Taco Bell Replaces Potatoes With Plant-Based Meat Made from Oats

Taco Bell Replaces Potatoes With Plant-Based Meat Made from Oats Customers were less than thrilled after Taco Bell announced this summer that the fast-food chain would be cutting potatoes from the menu, particularly those who don t eat meat, as the fried potatoes were an easy way to swap beef out of dishes to make them vegan or vegetarian. It seems the brand is trying to win plant-forward eaters back by adding plant-based meat to the menu. Starting January 7th, Taco Bell locations throughout the UK will be adding plant-based meat from the brand Gold & Green to the menu. Gold & Green offers unique, healthier meat alternatives made out of oats, pea, and fava bean protein. Customers can substitute the plant-based meat for any regular meat item on the menu, making the chain even more vegan and vegetarian friendly. As of right now, Taco Bell is serving plant-based meat at 53 locations in the UK as well as select locations in Europe, specifically in Finland and Spain.
