Richmond Superintendent Jason Kamras has set up a makeshift office inside the hallway of George Wythe High School where he said he'll be working for the rest of the school year.
Parents lined the street of Midlothian Tpke. Thursday afternoon outside George Wythe High School after two students were shot in the school’s parking lot.
The statement, which was sent to parents as part of the RPS Direct Newsletter, laments the number of shootings that have taken place in schools across the country over the last several decades and asks residents of the city to reach out to state legislators advocating for more funding to improve safety measures in Richmond schools.
While Superintendent Jason Kamras was not available for an interview Tuesday, he previously told CBS 6 the goal behind his proposal is to improve academic outcomes.
