The flood watch remains in effect through thursday morning with several strong storms and the possibility of flash flooding throughout the midlands. On thursday the rain chance falls to 50 during the day and then down to 30 that night. High 70 new years day will be mostly cloudy with only a slight chance the continued rain has forced forced state transportation than a dozen roads in South Carolina. As of last night dot says 29 roads were closed in 12 counties because of flooding or damage from the most recent rainfall. Officials say crews will be out repairing those roads as soon as the weather settles. Meanwhile, they say drivers should continue to use caution while traveling. Columbia officials are also blaming the rain for sewage overflows affecting several neighborhoods. O
