GUWAHATI The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has moved 21 isolation coaches to Guwahati and another 20 to Badarpur near Silchar to meet possible bed shortage for Covid patients.
The Railways has also deployed 20 isolation coaches at Dibrugarh Town station in upper Assam, which is reporting the maximum number of daily cases after Guwahati. The coaches are equipped with essential medical facilities like oxygen cylinders and meant for treating patients with mild symptoms.
“Through focused monitoring and detailed work-flow protocols, the Railways were able to move isolation coaches to different parts of the country as per the states’ demand. The NFR is also ready to assist all states within its jurisdiction with the provision of Covid care coaches as and when request is received from respective state governments to cope with rising hospitalization needs,” said chief public relations officer of NFR, Subhanan Chanda, on Monday.
