According to Alex Gonzalez, deputy public works director for the City of Shafter, the city asked for and received extensions on the deadlines for the three Clean California Grant funded projects.
For several years, the Shafter Aquatic Center has been dormant and left to wither in the elements. The pools are littered with trash, pool equipment and filled with stagnant water.
