Right . A couple of generations farther back. Thats the next thing about america. I have gone around the world. There is something about this American Dream. People real fascinated by it t americans, immigrant citizens believe in it but our community is a bit cynical if it can be achieved due to a lot of the hardships people are facing. It seems it is more about survival rather than thriving. The American Dream used to be work hard and you shall receive. It is no longer the land of milk and honey. Fran says its no longer the land of opportunity but we have a great definition. It can be mean being content and finding peace in job and family life. That content is a big one. For everyone. Millions of immigrants flock to the u. S. For a shot at the American Dream we were talking about but its not always easy street in the land of the free. Immigrants have a 20 poverty rate and economists project the children will urn up to 15 less than their nonimmigrant counterparts from lang barriers and
Amending the constitution begins, and any idea on the process or the timeline of how this happens . Well, the government has made it clear that its appointing a committee of experts to look at a constitutional overhaul to address some of the concerns that have come up at moscows instigation, but a timeline for the people to vote on, and perhaps the president ial election, its not carved in stone, but one of the several processes intertwined in a way that lowers the intentions, between kiev and moscow and washington and moscow for this to really stick. Thank you so much, nick spicer there from geneva, and lets bring you back up to speed. The crisis in ukraine with the Russian Foreign minister saying that they have agreed that all occupied squares and buildings will be freed, weapons will only be held by what he calls legitimate authorities and monitors. And the constitution to be amended. Of course the key question is what will some of the protesters in the east in donetsk think of all
Feet and exceed the height dimension by two feet, they would make it 7 feet tall. If you were to approve this Pilot Program and the redesignation of these 47 spaces, it would be with the exemption from two regulations, the regulation that says a street artist space must be no more than 4 feet wide and the regulation that says that it can be no taller than 5 feet and then theres a third regulation and that is that street artist displays cannot be within 5 feet of each other. So if you increase each space around the plaza rail, if you can picture this, then instead of there being 5 feet between the spaces, there would be 3 feet between the spaces. You did this historically speaking about nearly 30 years ago when you exempted 12 spaces around bart plaza at market and maupblt montgomery street. There is precedent here. In fact, youve granted exemptions in no less than 40 resolutions over the years for the street Artist Spaces so long as there wasnt a Public Safety problem, of course. That
Next speaker. Good afternoon, im donna figarota with the Union Square Business district. I just wanted to talk a little bit about the background for this project. It grew out of a larger vision for Hallidie Plaza that was developed by the bid Streetscapes Committee that would create better access from the top to the bottom with a inaudible approach that would allow for a larger range of activities like flower stands, and the street artists being a very important part of Hallidie Plaza were folded into that. Right now the artists when they exist, they are lost in the confusion of people, street performers and tourists in line buying muni tickets around the cable car. We want to increase the visibility of the street artists as an asset and promote them as an asset in an attraction for both tourists living and working in the area. The display table which weve got here, i dont know if you can put on the overhead, if you can see it, anyway, what that does was it really allows a better expos
