Franklin looks to raise Main Street parking lot fees

FRANKLIN The Borough Council has reached an agreement to raise rates at the Main Street parking lot over the next four years and revisit the fee schedule in the future.
The agreement, which needs ratification in ordinance amendments at a future meeting, was hammered out after a debate among Council members as to whether renters deserve a place to park and how much those tenants, who tend to fall on the lower end of the economic ladder, can afford.
One man complained that he and his girlfriend, parents of a young baby, can only afford one parking permit. He said his girlfriend parks in the Main Street parking lot and still has to walk a quarter of a mile in all kinds of weather to their apartment.

ANDOVER TOWNSHIP The hearing for a revised BHT Properties Group site plan for Stickles Pond Road was onTuesday night s Land Use Board agenda, but once again it was postponed at the applicant s request.
The meeting, to discuss the revised plan that calls for a storage site for construction vehicles and equipment on the land, was the first to be held in person since September 2020.
The updated application calls for the property to be a storage site for construction vehicles and equipment, rather than storing used vehicles sold at auction as originally proposed.
Board Chair Paul Messerschmidt announced at the beginning of Tuesday s meeting at the Hillside Park barn, that BHT Properties Group asked for the hearing to be postponed until July 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the same location.
