Copart vehicle storage application for Andover NJ site delayed again

New Jersey Herald ANDOVER TOWNSHIP The hearing for a proposed Copart vehicle storage facility in the township, initially scheduled more than a year ago, faces another delay. The Land Use Board deemed the newest application incomplete.  The board s unanimous vote on Tuesday was based on the recommendation of township engineer Cory Stoner, who detailed his findings during a completeness review for the property on Stickles Pond Road. One of Stoner s main concerns with the Copart and BHT Properties Group application was the environmental impact statement. The engineer said the statement was a little light, and the partner companies did not address at great length  the effect the application will have on the Pequest River that runs near the property.

Route 206 accident in Andover NJ tractor-trailer leaves one dead

New Jersey Herald ANDOVER TOWNSHIP A township man was killed after his vehicle crashed into a tractor-trailer on Route 206 Friday afternoon. Richard Hamm, 62, died when his 2008 Dodge Caliber drove directly into and underneath a UPS tractor-trailer in front of Thorlabs at 2:22 p.m. Friday, according to a press release from the Andover Township Police Department. Hamm was traveling northbound toward Newton when the accident occurred, police said. An investigation determined the tractor-trailer was perpendicular with the roadway and attempting to back into the loading dock area of Thorlabs at the time of the crash. The driver of the UPS vehicle, whom police did not identify in the report, was uninjured.

Andover NJ: Copart auto storage facility meeting postponed to February

New Jersey Herald ANDOVER TOWNSHIP The hearing for the proposed Copart auto storage facility in the township, initially scheduled for nine months ago, has been pushed back again to allow for further review of the application. The application, which includes the purchase of about 100 acres at the former Newton Airport property on Stickles Pond Road, was scheduled to resume Dec. 15 but has been moved to February at the applicant s request, Mayor Michael Lensak said Thursday. The exact date and venue for the February meeting are still to be determined. The hearing began Sept. 15 with three hours of testimony at the Hillside Park barn, but three scheduled meetings to continue the application have been canceled since then.
