Bike shop across the street from me when he heard the crash and came out. Around 3 00, 3 30ish or so i heard a loud thud and knew something happened that was not good. Park managers says he saw two badly damaged vehicles across the road in an empty field. He says he drove toward the white toyota and saw the driver getting out. I said where are you going. He said i want to go and get police. I said youre not going any where. Reporter a coworker and a customer helped him keep the driver of the white vehicle on the scene. He was identified as james toliver. He was struggling a bit. Reporter the driver was unconscious and died at the hospital. The passenger was on the floor of the vehicle bleeding. Firefighters had to use the jaws of life to get out the two men. It appears toliver was drunk and speeding when he hit the white nissan who was trying to get away from the accident scene. Was killed today right in front of the main entrance to city hall. The 67yearold woman was in a crosswalk when she was hit by a cable car style tour bus. The vehicle then ran over her as she lay on the ground. The woman was taken to San Francisco General Hospital where sadly she later died. The mayor says the city recently approved installing a traffic light at the crosswalk because of Pedestrian Safety concerns. City hall is becoming more and more famous. A lot of people were coming in, and whether its a sightseeing bus or tourist bus, we didnt want that, we wanted to lessen the chances of colliding. It didnt happen fast enough.
