Based on the report, the man who was identified as Tre Brown, 19, tried to scam an estimate of $1 million. The bizarre scam idea caught the attention of corporate Kroger employees, who immediately reached out to the local law enforcement after noticing fraudulent transactions.

A teenager in Gwinnett County, Georgia, was arrested recently for allegedly stealing nearly $1 million from the grocery store where he was employed.
“Tre Brown, 19, was taken into custody Jan. 14 after scamming the Kroger on Steve Reynolds Boulevard out of more than $980,000 over a two-week period,” the
Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC) reported Friday.
Police said the teenager made over 40 returns for non-existent items last month and in January.
“Those returns, which ranged in price from $75 to more than $87,000, were then placed on several credit cards,” the outlet continued.
Authorities also said Brown used the money to purchase two cars, clothes, guns, and shoes. Before his arrest, the teenager reportedly totaled a Chevrolet Camaro he bought, according to Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Collin Flynn.
Kroger has around 184 stores in the Atlanta area.

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. Gwinnett Police said they have arrested a 19-year-old Duluth man who they said scammed a Kroger store in Duluth for more than $980,000.
According to Corporal Collin Flynn, Tre Brown was arrested by Gwinnett Police White Collar detectives after Brown made false returns at the supermarket where he worked in the 3000 block of Steve Reynolds Boulevard between December 2020 and January 2021.
Flynn said that detectives believe Brown was able to create more than 40 returns for non-existent items and put them on several credit cards.
The following are the Gwinnett road closures for Dec. 19-25:
· Clayton Street from Crogan Street to Pike Street will require single lane closure (closest to the construction) through December for the Lawrenceville Performing Arts Center. For further information contact the City of Lawrenceville at 678.407.6599.
· Dacula Road at Harbins Road will close November 30 through December for intersection improvements, weather permitting. The detour route will be Dacula Road to Broad Street and Harbins Road to McMillan Road.
· Dacula Road at SR 8 / Winder Highway will require intermittent lane closures and traffic shifts through April 2021 for roadway widening and improvements, weather permitting. Any such closures will be between the hours of 8:00am and 7:00pm.
