GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Some high school seniors in Green Bay could be one step closer to walking across the stage at graduation.
This week the Green Bay school board voted to lower graduation requirements to the state-mandated level.
“The state has high graduation standards. Ours were just higher, but what this does is this gives students some flexibility if they’re carrying a full load as a senior and if they’re struggling with it, we want to make sure to give them space to make a decision that’s right for them and still get to the graduation stage this Spring,” Green Bay schools superintendent Stephen Murley said.

GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Some Green Bay students will return to a classroom as early as Thursday. The board last night approved adjustments to its gating criteria, for specialized courses, activities, and extra curriculars.
It’s what parents demanded on Saturday just outside the District office.
One parent, Amy McNally said, “we want to support opening the Green Bay Schools because virtual has been going on for way too long.”
It’s also what many parents, like Jamie Jacques, continue to demand at Green Bay School’s board meeting.
“If you give the opportunity for some of us to be able to go back to school, we re not saying open up the school and make everyone go back to school, but please leave the option out there”
