GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) -The Green Bay School District is preparing for one of its largest summer school programs, ever. Part of the reason for the expansion is to help struggling students, after a year of virtual learning.
While time is ticking for dismissal bells to ring one last time at Green Bay Schools this year, Jamie Jensen tells FOX 11 she is figuring out how her son will be spending his summer.
âIt is our desire for him to take intensive summer school. Hopefully that will be something offered five days a week.â
While Jensen is looking into private school options for next year first, she said summer school may be a second option after a year of almost all virtual learning for her son.

GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Some Green Bay students will return to a classroom as early as Thursday. The board last night approved adjustments to its gating criteria, for specialized courses, activities, and extra curriculars.
It’s what parents demanded on Saturday just outside the District office.
One parent, Amy McNally said, “we want to support opening the Green Bay Schools because virtual has been going on for way too long.”
It’s also what many parents, like Jamie Jacques, continue to demand at Green Bay School’s board meeting.
“If you give the opportunity for some of us to be able to go back to school, we re not saying open up the school and make everyone go back to school, but please leave the option out there”
