not oppose it. as we continue to await a decision from the judge as to whether or not she will grant trump s request for a third party independent review that special master there are two big headlines emerging from today s filing. the first, again, is over 10,000 documents were found at mar-a-lago. that is big early. the second found 48 folders classified and 42 more empty folders marked return to staff secretary slash military aid. doing the math here, that is 90 folders that were empty and almost certainly had some important stuff in them. so, the first question here is, why were they empty? where are the documents that belong in those folders? does the justice department have them and we just don t know that yet? are they still sitting at trump s home? with a ripped up and flushed down the toilet? he does like to do that, you know. why were they separated from their folders in the first place? we are going to try to get answers in just a moment with our next guest, as
when former president trump had in his possessions, we have to start wondering is mar-a-lago just the beginning. late is the day, u.s. district judge aileen cannon moved to unseal inventory of all items recovered during the fbi search of trump s palm beach resort. we now know that federal agents found over ten dozen governments documents and photographs without classification markings. they were strewn across mar-a-lago, allegedly stashed and boxes alongside newspaper clippings, magazines, random articles of all kinds of things, including clothing, white house shot skis and who knows what else. fbi agents also recovered 45 empty folders that were marked classified, along with another 42 empty folders labeled return to staff secretary, military aid. all of that from mar-a-lago. who knows where the classified material is now? we don t know. perhaps, they are sitting under a pile of five irons in bedminster or lodged between couch cushions in a trump tower penthouse summer. th
astonishing. it s unprecedented. but don t take my word for it. listen to the former attorney general, bill barr, who was on fox news today. that s right, fox. let me just say, i think the driver on this from the beginning was loads of classified information sitting in mar-a-lago. people say this was unprecedented. well, it s also unprecedented for a president to take all this classified information and put it in a country club, okay? and how long is the government going to try to get that back? you know, they jawbone for a year. they were deceived on the voluntary actions taken. they then went and got a subpoena. they were deceived on that, they feel. and the facts are starting to show that they were being jerked around. so, you know, how long do they wait? i mean, that s a good question. and it s probably one that was asked before they went for that search warrant. and also found in the search of mar-a-lago, dozens of empty folders with classified bands. that s right, e
mixed in with a mess of whole other stuff. i find that odd. some kind affjunk drawer happening because, look, some of the nation s most important secrets potentially and again we don t know what is in these documents. we still don t know. we know the type of document, the classification. bullet the fact a document of this potential could be mixed in with clothes and gifts and press clippings, do you see possibly an innocent explanation interest this? let s think about a benefit of the doubt. can one be extended? not at all. i mean there is absolutely no good reason for donald trump to have taken any of this. i mean, there s no justification for why he d have to use it. i mean it just these are documents that belong to the government. they should have been left behind. he has not come up with any justification as to why he had the right to have these documents. he claimed at one point recently that he declassified them. but he never made that argument in the course of,
in a storage room. this december despite one of his lawyers telling the government they ve given everything back before that search. now agents found government documents mixed in with personal items like gifts and clothing. there are also dozens of empty folders that were marked as classified. i want to bring in cnn s sara murray, political analyst laura barone lopez, and nick akerman, and also we have national security attorney bradley moss. a great panel to talk about this very important issue. i want to begin with you here, sara. you ve been going through the inventory documents from this mar-a-lago search. tell me what is standing out to you? well, i mean, certainly it s the volume. they say there are 11,000 government documents that are not classified. but also, when you dig in to the classified documents you, have you 103 documents. we re now learning that amounts to hundreds of pages in these documents. but 18 of those are top secret. 54 are secret. 31 are confident
