New Delhi: World Bank economist Deepak Mishra was appointed as the next director and chief executive of Indiaâs leading think-tank Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER) Monday. The move comes at a time when several other economic policy think-tanks have witnessed a change in their top leadership.
The National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) has also announced a selection process for a new director general, who will take over after incumbent Shekhar Shahâs term ends in 2021. The think-tank hasnât specified when exactly Shahâs term ends.

Director General, National Council of Applied Economic Research, India
Shekhar Shah is the Director General of the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER). As the CEO of India’s oldest and largest independent economic think tank, he manages NCAER’s wide-ranging research activities across all sectors of the economy, including its extensive data collection, innovation, and curation activities.
Prior to joining NCAER, Shah was the World Bank’s Regional Economic Adviser for South Asia and, earlier, Sector Manager in the Bank’s research complex and a principal author of the
2004
World Development Report, Making Services Work for Poor People. During a World Bank career spanning more than two decades, Shah also served as the Bank’s Deputy Research Administrator, Sector Manager for Public Sector Management for Europe and Central Asia, and Lead Economist for Bangladesh.

SC/ST reservation at DU: Candidates falling under the scheduled caste (SC) or schedule tribes (ST) categories have a total 22.5 per cent reserved seats for them in Delhi University colleges. Of these, 15 per cent seats are reserved for SCs and 7.5 per cent for STs.
OBC reservation at DU: Candidates under the other backward classes (OBC) category get 27 per cent reserved seats, and a 10 per cent relaxation on marks.
PwD: There is also a reservation of 3 per cent seats for students with 40 per cent disability.
