The just-sold property is located in Cleveland Park at
750 and 754 Douglas Ave. and includes a small building and a surface parking lot. It is located adjacent to the site of the planned mixed-use project Highland Yards.
Southern Grist has operated on the city’s east side in Eastwood at 1201 Porter Road since early 2016. It also has a presence at Stocking 51 in The Nations.
Kevin Antoon, Southern Grist s co-founder and CEO, said the future space is twice the size of the Porter Road building, allowing for an increased focus on food, two patio areas, distanced indoor seating and better parking. Locally based Mijo Gordito will be partnering with Southern Grist on the food concept.
Located at
1520 Porter Road, the building accommodates Save A Trip Market & Laundry, a convenience store, laundromat and fuel station.
The new owner is a general partnership, details about which the
Post was unable to determine. The seller was William Shaar, owner of Brentwood-based Realty of America. He had paid $481,500 for the property in April 2015, according to Metro records.
The building offers 4,800 square feet. As such, the deal is the equivalent of about $292 per foot based on the structure’s size.
James Moore, owner of Nashville-based Blue Iris Real Estate, facilitated the transaction.
Of note, veteran local real estate investor Jim Crossman once owned the property, having paid $27,500 for it in 1975, Metro records show.
Czann’s owner preps for new home after closing SoBro facility
Czann s Brewing Co. is slated to be open in The Nations by January’s end.
Ken Rebman, Czann’s founder and president, said work is being finalized on the future brewery and taproom space at 4909 Indiana Ave., which at one time accommodated the sanctuary of a church (pictured).
The effort to move to the city’s west side comes as Rebman closed his SoBro brewing facility to the public last Sunday.
Originally, Rebman was to have moved to The Nations in March but COVID-19, among other factors, altered the timeline.
