LOWELL Ever since he posted the “Coalition Against Tyranny” petition Jan. 11, almost 1,300 people have signed Kendrick Del Orbe’s Change.org petition urging Lowell Public Schools to reconsider its cellphone lockbox policy, which is scheduled to be implemented Jan. 24.

LOWELL Family and service above self were the themes of the new City Council, which was inaugurated in a ceremony at Lowell Memorial Auditorium Tuesday morning. Councilor Dan Rourke was elected mayor of the body by a majority of his peers, and Councilor Paul Ratha Yem was unanimously selected by his colleagues to be vice chair. Both noted the support of their families to serve the city.
LOWELL The imprisonment of political prisoners in Cambodia, including Cambodian-American citizen and lawyer Theary Seng, was the subject of a letter sent by Sen. Ed Markey to Secretary of State Antony Blinken earlier this month.
