Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race This Weekend Race day is coming up, and Bangor Parks and Rec says they ve maxed-out on registered paddlers. After scrapping the event last year, Bangor Parks and Recreation says the 2021 Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race is a-go. The race, set for Saturday April 17, is capped at 310 paddlers. Those who pre-registered to race need to pick-up their race bibs, stickers, and goody bags  at Bangor Parks and Rec by Friday. This year s race will different for both racers and spectators. Changes for racers include  staggered starting times based on class, a face covering is required until entering the stream, and no warming tent at the finish line. The popular Six Mile Falls area will be closed to spectators. In addition, the start and finish lines are closed to spectators. Onlookers who watch from other locations along the stream are asked to wear masks, and practice social distancing.

Registration For Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race Closes This Week This year, Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race will not have race day registration. Those who want to race need to get registered before the deadline this week. After scrapping the event last year, Bangor Parks and Recreation says the 2021 Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race is a-go. The registration period for the race will close Thursday. Paddlers need to have completed all of the race registration forms by April 8, as there is no race day registration this year. Race bibs, stickers, and goody bags will be available for pick up for race participants at Bangor Parks and Rec April 12-16.

The Kenduskeag Canoe Race will be different this year for both paddlers and spectators. After scrapping the event last year, Bangor Parks and Recreation recently announced the 2021 Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race is a-go. Race day is set for Saturday, April 17. Registration for the race is now open. With COVID-19 in mind, the race will be different for those participating in the event and watching it. For some spectators, a big change this year will be where to watch the race. In a typical year, hundreds of spectators watch from along the banks of the 16.5 mile Kenduskeag Stream route. A popular area to watch the thrills of the spills, or the few who navigate through, is Six Mile Falls. The only optional portage of the race will be closed to spectators this year. Onlookers who watch from other locations along the stream are asked to wear masks, and practice social distancing.

The Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race Will Happen This Year Organizers say the 2021 Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race will happen this year. After scrapping the event last year, Bangor Parks and Recreation has announced the 2021 Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race is a-go. Race day is set for Saturday, April 17. Registration for the race is now open. According to Debbie Gendreau, Assistant Director of Bangor Parks & Recreation, Registrations are limited to a certain amount of people and boaters to accommodate CDC guidelines. Race classes has been reduced from 23 to 7, but still accommodating every type of racer. New rules for the 2021 race include: Paddlers must wear a face covering until entering the stream. Race staff will give dry masks to paddlers as they exit at the finish line.
