Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race This Weekend
Race day is coming up, and Bangor Parks and Rec says they've maxed-out on registered paddlers.
After scrapping the event last year, Bangor Parks and Recreation says the 2021 Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race is a-go. The race, set for Saturday April 17, is capped at 310 paddlers. Those who pre-registered to race need to pick-up their race bibs, stickers, and goody bags at Bangor Parks and Rec by Friday.
This year's race will different for both racers and spectators. Changes for racers include staggered starting times based on class, a face covering is required until entering the stream, and no warming tent at the finish line. The popular Six Mile Falls area will be closed to spectators. In addition, the start and finish lines are closed to spectators. Onlookers who watch from other locations along the stream are asked to wear masks, and practice social distancing.
