New Delhi, Jan 27 : Congress leaders on Wednesday questioned the police action against the farmers leaders after the clashes on Tuesday between the farmers and the police during the tractor rally in New Delhi.
Punjab Congress MP Jasbir Singh Gill Dimpa, who is protesting against the farm laws said, Has anybody noticed any case being registered against Deep Sidhu or Lakha Sidhana. It is alleged that Deep Sidhu was among the group of farmers who entered the Red Fort in New Delhi and unfurled the pennant there, while violent clashes erupted in several areas of the national capital.
He said: Rahul Gandhi wasn t only supporting the protest but also instigating. It was the same during CAA, Congress holds rallies, they instigate people to take to streets and agitation begins next day. It happened during this agitation too. They instigated farmers.
Javadekar said the Punjab government did not make any preventive arrests despite indications that there could be trouble during the rally. When some farmer leaders had said on 26th that it s final match, Punjab govt should have monitored the tractors leaving from the state and made preventive arrests of habitual criminals, Javadekar said.
Earlier, Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala accused the Modi government of being part of a concerted conspiracy to malign the farmers agitation by allowing some miscreants to enter the Red Fort complex and hoist a religious flag.
Priyanka met them at her brother and former Congress president Rahul Gandhi s residence. The MPs Ravneet Singh Bittu, Jasbir Singh Dimpa and others have been protesting at Jantar Mantar since December 7. Many Congress leaders, including Shashi Tharoor and Salman Khurshid have joined their protest to show solidarity with them. Congress MP Jasbir Singh Gill Dimpa said: We will sit here till the farmers protest against the new farm laws continues. The government should withdraw the new farm laws and look into their demands and resolve the matter. Gurjit Singh Aujla said: The Punjab Congress is with farmers from day one and it is our responsibility to support the farmers. the protest will continue till the government takes back its decisions.
