Michael Lowe, PhD, a professor in Drexel University's College of Arts and Sciences, has recently reevaluated the decades of dieting research to redefine the way researchers and the public define – and therefore understand - dieting and the culture of weight loss.

UCLA Co-Hosts Bruin Wave Invitational

SOMIS, Calif. - UCLA travels to The Saticoy Club this week for the Bruin Wave Invitational. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be played Monday through Wednesday at the par-72, 6,273-yard layout. The starting lineup for the Bruins will be junior Simar Singh and sophomores Emilie Paltrinieri, Emma Spitz, Annabel Wilson and Yuki Yoshihara. Junior Phoebe Yue will be playing as an individual. Live scoring will be available here. UCLA opens the tournament on Monday at 8 a.m. off the first tee in the order of Yoshihara, Singh, Paltrinieri, Wilson and Spitz. Yue will start her round on No. 10 at 8:55 a.m.

Spitz Finishes Second, Bruins Fifth at Sun Devil Winter Classic

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Sophomore Emma Spitz shot a 2-under 70 on Wednesday to finish in solo second at the Sun Devil Winter Classic. She finished her 54 holes at the Talking Stick Golf Club at 6-under 210. As a team, the Bruins placed fifth (+23, 887), shooting a 12-over 300. Spitz, who only made two bogeys throughout the entire tournament, posted three birdies on the par-5 fifth, par-4 eighth and par-3 ninth holes on Wednesday, making just one bogey. She finished three shots back of Arizona State s Linn Grant, who fired a 5-under 67 in the final round. Sophomore Annabel Wilson tied for 11th at 3-over 219 after shooting a 1-over 73 in her final round. She made three birdies, including a pair on par-5s (fifth and 16th), adding another on the par-4 sixth to go with four bogeys.
