STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. ‘Tis the season for ticks.
Check your fur babies as often as possible or at least at the end of every day. It’s not extra work if it keeps our loved ones safe from harm. It only takes a minute to look them over, but it’s worth the time.
Where do you look when checking for ticks? The diagram below should help. If you give them a good rub down after being outside, you will be able to feel them.

Did you know that more than 4 million people are bitten by dogs nationally each year?
A majority of them do not require medical attention, however. According to the CDC, approximately 800,000 need to see a doctor with more than half of those cases involving children.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a 300% increase in dog bites.
Typically, a dog will not bite without reason. Triggers include stress, being scared or feeling like they are in danger. Understanding a dog’s body language is a key way to help avoid being bitten.
