STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Searching for a lost pet can be difficult. Raising local awareness is a good place to start. And with the help of social media, the reach can go much further.
There is a cat that has been lost for a while in our community. If you can share their information and spread the word, hopefully, Corduroy will be found.
Below are a few tips for locating a lost cat.
1. Begin where the cat was lost: Check nearby garages or sheds, neighbors’ yards or abandoned buildings. No matter how far the search takes you, keep checking back.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Many believe that cats enjoy solitude. But no two are alike. Some prefer to be cuddled more than being alone.
Unlike other animals, veterinarians say cats can spend up to 24 hours alone if they have fresh water, fresh food and clean litter. (This does not hold true for kittens or senior cats, however.)
Your veterinarian can help you make the right decision about how long you can leave your cat alone. It’s always best to leave them with a pet sitter or have someone who can help in emergencies.
Firefighters and police found the 34-year-old woman around 2:25 p.m. in a chute near the third floor of the Silver Lake Apartments on Victory Blvd., near the Silver Lake Golf Course.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. While many adoption events have been temporarily suspended due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, there are still plenty of pets that are looking for a home. All you have to do is reach out to the adoption agencies.
Thanks to the volunteers who are devoted to helping these animals get adopted by loving families like you. It takes a significant amount of time and dedication to volunteer at the animal rescues listed below.
Before adopting a new fur friend, volunteers organize pet events every week in and around the borough, send out announcements, hold fundraisers, help with supplies, clean cages, feed animals, make sure a pet’s medical needs are attended to and so much more. All of this is done without pay, all for love, and behind the scenes.
