LG Seeks Qualitative Improvement In KU Functioning

(MENAFN - Kashmir Observer) Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday asked the Kashmir university administration to prepare a roadmap for bringing in qualitative improvement in the overall functioning of the institution. Chairing the 81st Kashmir university council meet at the Raj Bhavan here, Sinha called on academia to identify the challenges in the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 and prepare a plan accordingly, thus making the higher education sector effective, result-oriented, and more vibrant. The Lt Governor, who is also the chancellor of the university, also directed the administration to strengthen its research ecosystem, upgrade infrastructural facilities, and academic and research programmes with a special focus on most recent advancements. Addressing as chief guest a day-long traffic awareness programme, organised by Kashmir’s University School of Law in collaboration with NGO named ‘God’s Lap’, the varsity Registrar Dr Nisar Ahmad Mir said that road accident deaths and injuries are preventable if safety norms are followed by everyone with seriousness. “An effective communication strategy will help raise levels of understanding amongst motorists about the goals of driving as well as about the importance of adherence to road safety laws and regulations,” Dr Mir said, adding that stringent enforcement of legal provisions governing road safety and traffic movement can help reduce road accidents.

Secured 100 pc conviction in cases this year, NIA clarifies ANI | Updated: Dec 12, 2020 19:35 IST New Delhi [India], December 12 (ANI): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday informed that the anti-terror agency has secured a 100 per cent conviction rate in all the cases, in which judgements have been passed by special NIA courts this year. The NIA made the announcement while clarifying on misleading news reported by some media outlets yesterday that a special NIA court in Srinagar had acquitted all accused in a case related to the killing of Jamiat-e-Ahlihadeeth chief in Jammu and Kashmir. In the current year 2020, all the designated NIA Special Courts in India have pronounced judgements in 11 cases till date and NIA has been able to secure 100 per cent conviction, the NIA said in a statement.
