numbers of unmarried women and moms and you want to get elected. you want to keep your job and the good news is that we have some stories to tell, like in new york city, where a person who was a shoo-in for mayor but blocked paid sick days for three years got 15% of the vote and the guy that said not only do i support this, i am going to make it better, he s the one who won. the language of universal pre-k was relevant to new york parents and i wonder because universal pre-k sounds like a parent issue. when will parents in republican-led states that denied the aca medicaid expansion recognize, we are talking about sick days as if we re squus talking about the normal illnesses of childhood, which is part of it. medicaid expansion is the more critical aspect. the real irony eis the states denying the medicaid expansion is the poorest states where rural hospitals are going to
so my question would be to you guys. with this anti-incumbent fervor that is sweeping the nation right now, it shows no sign of slowing down, is that the best play for hillary clinton? i mean, i think that there are a lot of things that potentially could be at odds for hillary clinton with the mood of the country. and i ve talked about this before. i mean, democrats always argue that she is the most electoral candidate and in a way she s a shoo-in. and sure, when you look at the republican side, there s not a whole lot there that seems very threatening. but the question is so divided that any democratic nominee, any republican nominee is going to have a tough time getting to the white house. it s not going to be an easy road for anyone. now, with hillary i think it s been very telling, some of the sort of clumsy maneuvers that she s made during the book tour, the dead broke comment being sort of the most obvious one to me. she s out of practice. and also, she wasn t a great
so, that, i think, will be seen even historically as a very dark period for the catholic church. and as you said, it hasn t finished yet, but there is a sense of rebirth with this new figure who may be able to lead the catholic church out of that and into a new light. you know, just the other day, pope francis came up with something called bat christians. and he said, a bat christian is someone who likes to live in the dark and is afraid of the light, and he said don t be bat christians. come out into the light and share the good news. and i think that s really what he s trying to encourage people to do. i guess the next natural question is, what is next? who might be the next candidate for sainthood? and i know that the two of you mentioned mother teresa. is she a shoo-in? oh, listen, i mean, i don t think anybody here has any serious doubt that sooner or later, it s going to be st.
virginia. senator cain won despite many hundreds of thousands of dollars spent against him by the nra. he s won every office he s ever run for with an f rating. in 2013, terry mcauliffe, ralph northrum, all ran on a gun safety message. you know, and wanting to keep their community safe. and all virginians safe. i think the power and influence of the nra is greatly inflated. i think that they don t win when they spend money on competitive races. they win when they spend money on races that are a shoo-in, and a definite win in those different districts. i d like to just deflate the impression that people have that they re the all powerful nra. their own membership wants background checks. so this is about keeping
departure? he s a serious guy, a former fbi agent? a very serious guy, dogged, fair, effective. the fact he leaves, i m sure he has his personal reasons that we may not know about, but the fact he leaves, the fact he s a chairman of a very important committee. he s obviously a shoo-in for re-election if he wants. he s in the party that s going to retain the majority. understand somebody in the house leaves because they re in the minority, they re going to leave therefrom. you can understand that. it tells you how the standing of congress has fallen that he would do that, and he says, you know, there s a need for a voice out there on radio, and i don t know. i think there are quite a lot of them out there. a few successful ones. i m not sure there s been a huge gap in the market for yet another one. i m sure he ll be effective, but it s an odd and puzzling move. and i think it says something about the decline of congress.
