DELAPLAINE, Ark. (KAIT) - Two people are confirmed dead after a vehicle/train crash in Delaplaine, according to Greene County Sheriff Steve Franks.
Crews were at the scene Friday evening.

Franks said it appeared that the driver made a left turn onto Highway 280 and was struck by the oncoming train. Authorities said the crossing lights were flashing and that there were no guard rails on the track.

PARAGOULD, Ark. (KAIT) - The city of Paragould, along with Greene County Future Fund and Paragould Chamber of Commerce, held a groundbreaking ceremony Friday at Harmon Park for the 8 Mile Trail.
Kimberly Dale, founder of Greene County Future Fund, says the trail will attract more businesses and people into town while promoting good health.
“We need to do everything we can to create a healthier lifestyle for individuals,” Dale said. “The only way we can do that is we give them the tools and the means in order to do that.”

GREENE COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) - When a former reserve deputy was arrested on federal weapons charges, investigators say they caught him with a meth pipe in his hand.
Jason Wolfenbarger, 40, of Paragould appeared before a federal judge Wednesday on a charge of the sale or transfer of a firearm to a prohibited person.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on April 28 an informant told an FBI special agent that they were “familiar with Wolfenbarger and had seen him smoke meth.”

GREENE COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) - A Greene County Detention Center inmate who walked away from a work site faces a new felony escape charge.
According to Sheriff Steve Franks, 19-year-old Joseph G. Bridges walked away from the work release center on Sunday, Feb. 14.
He was “quickly apprehended and is back in custody,” Franks said in a Wednesday news release.
Bridges was serving 120 days of work release for theft of property and theft of motor vehicle charges.
He is now charged with felony escape, and his work release sentence has been revoked.
