Even by mid-morning on June 26, floodwaters still trapped the white rental car that Grosse Pointe City resident Kristina Papas had to abandon in the area of Lincoln Road and Chalfonte Avenue after it stalled in water that was, hours earlier, up to the windows. A Grosse Pointe City Public Safety vehicle that came to offer assistance also stalled out in the deep water.

GROSSE POINTE FARMS For restaurants around the country, increasing the amount of space permitted for outdoor dining has been a lifeline during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Luxe Bar and Grill, at 115 Kercheval Ave. on the Hill in Grosse Pointe Farms, hopes to take advantage of more outdoor dining area by converting two on-street parking spaces in front of the restaurant into a dining platform.
“I believe this would be beneficial for both the city and us as a business,” Luxe owner Erion Balla said.

GROSSE POINTE FARMS After more than a year of uncertainty, fear and loss, the Grosse Pointe Chamber of Commerce hopes to host an event this summer that will bring back smiles and fun, as well as a needed boost to local businesses and artists.
On Aug. 7 and 8, the GPCC plans to host Grosse Pointe’s Arts, Beats and Eats in the Richard Elementary School parking lot, on the Hill in Grosse Pointe Farms. The festivities would include artist booths, food trucks and entertainment.
“It’s kind of analogous to the Dabble events,” Farms City Manager Shane Reeside told the Farms City Council during a Zoom meeting April 12, referring to a series of popular community events with food trucks and entertainment that were held on the Hill in previous years.
