GROSSE POINTE PARK Grosse Pointe Park officials have been told there is some support at the state level for an extreme emergency relief valve, or EERV, to prevent future basement backups and floods in homes and businesses.
Even by mid-morning on June 26, floodwaters still trapped the white rental car that Grosse Pointe City resident Kristina Papas had to abandon in the area of Lincoln Road and Chalfonte Avenue after it stalled in water that was, hours earlier, up to the windows. A Grosse Pointe City Public Safety vehicle that came to offer assistance also stalled out in the deep water.
