The Graham Chamber of Commerce hosted its first State of the Community luncheon last week and gathered representatives from local taxing entities to provide updates regarding current and upcoming projects, accomplishments and goals. The event was hosted Tuesday, March 19 as one of the chamber’s quarterly luncheons at North Central Texas College. Speakers were Mayor Alex Heartfield, City Manager Eric Garretty, Graham Regional Medical Center CEO Shane Kernell, Graham ISD Superintendent Sonny Cruse and NCTC Director Dr. Magen Bunyard.
Construction progress continues at Graham Regional Medical Center as it works toward an August project completion date. GRMC CEO Shane Kernell provided another update on the construction progress during the hospital board’s meeting Thursday, Feb. 22. As part of his monthly CEO report, Kernell shared that the project remains on schedule and that the major work is on track to be completed by August. Certain aspects of the overall project may be done and usable sooner, but the major scope of the project will be finished in approximately the next six months.
After selling breast cancer awareness T-shirts in September, Graham Fire Department and its auxiliary made a donation last week to Graham Regional Medical Center to help provide for those who need support locally. The department has been selling T-shirts since 2010 as a fundraiser to support local breast cancer patients.
Construction around Graham Regional Medical Center is well underway as GRMC CEO Shane Kernell provided an update on the progress during a hospital board meeting Thursday, Oct. 26. The project involves the expansion of the surgery center and the west side of the hospital building. It also includes the addition of an ambulance bay to improve emergency efforts. Most of the areas inside the hospital that are currently in use were built back in the 1950s and have continued to remain in use to this day.
The Graham Regional Medical Center Board of Directors were given an update last week on the construction process for a new surgery center and hospital renovations. The board will begin receiving monthly updates on the progress and budget of the construction projects. In June, GRMC CEO Shane Kernell spoke to the board and said the construction is estimated to be completed by spring 2025. The board chose Teinert Construction as the construction company for the project Wednesday, May 10, with a bid of $4,924,000 and allotted time of 300 days to complete the project.
