After hosting a public hearing last week, the Graham Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees adopted a tax rate and budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The adopted tax rate will be a four-and-a-half cent decrease from the current rate. The adopted tax rate of $0.272984 per $100 valuation is a 14.47% decrease from the current rate of $0.319184 per $100 valuation and matches the voter approval rate. The voter approval rate is the highest tax rate GRMC may adopt without holding an election to seek voter approval of the rate.
The Graham Regional Medical Center Board of Directors were given an update last week on the construction process for a new surgery center and hospital renovations. The board will begin receiving monthly updates on the progress and budget of the construction projects. In June, GRMC CEO Shane Kernell spoke to the board and said the construction is estimated to be completed by spring 2025. The board chose Teinert Construction as the construction company for the project Wednesday, May 10, with a bid of $4,924,000 and allotted time of 300 days to complete the project.
