Two days after an intensified protest by Congress leaders and workers at MC’s Zone-A office, Ludhiana police on Thursday booked at least 60 party members for obstructing the staff.

After an intensified protest by the congress leaders and workers at Zone-A office of Municipal Corporation, where they put up a lock to agitate, the Ludhiana police booked Congress Member Parliament (MP) Ravneet Singh Bittu, former cabinet minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu, former senior deputy mayor Sham Sunder Malhotra, district congress president and former MLA Sanjay Talwar and 60 others under non- bailable sections.
SAD leaders, meanwhile, carried binoculars to criticise the civic for placing the draft map of ward delimitation at an inconvenient height, rendering it inaccessible to the public.
Sanjay Talwar and Sham Sunder Malhotra today took over as the president and senior vice-president, respectively, of Ludhiana District Congress Committee (DDC). Talwar said he would work to strengthen the party at the ground level.
